Re: Ethics and Choice
OK, change of mind, I'll save Newton also. Einstein figured out 'religion is just a con trick' without Darwin, so other people (including me) can too.
This will puzzle those people (probably won't be 'scientists') working on DNA;,if they won't be able to figure out evolution.

Re: Ethics and Choice
You open Room 2 and as you hurry Newton away you realise that you don't believe in his work because it goes against your strict belief as a Christian to do so. In other words you have saved a large part of physics to let it fall into obsoleteness because everybody is a Christian and the only explanation necessary is 'God did it'. Yes, Overlord, even Albert Einstein is a Christian because as you know he was 10ish when Darwin died and hence evolution was around before Einstein so he probably would have been a Christian. As you realise the depth of your idiocy you feel like you want to kill yourselves, thankfully such an act is forbidden by your new found religion.
CONGRATS WE'RE ALL RELIGIOUS AND IT IS ALL YOUR FAULT.

CHOICE 6:
Personal Loss
ROOM 1:
In Room 1 you have your ability to see, if you don't open room 1 by the end of the week you will become permanently blind, no fancy laser surgery or bionic eye can help you now.
ROOM 2:
In Room 2 you have your ability to hear, if you don't open room 2 by the end of the week you will become permanently deaf, no hearing aids or cochlea implants can help you now.
I want reasons this time people.

Re: Ethics and Choice
I will keep my eyes; I like reading and being able to see things gives a better sense of the world than hearing. Subtitles and sign language can substitute for speech (communication), but I can't think of how hearing could substitute in any real way for sight. I also hate guide dogs.
I realise I will miss out on music, but let's face it, some awesome songs have already been written (likewise there are some cool movie quotes), that I can always play in my head if necessary.
Good enough reasoning?

I will keep my eyes so I can keep writing, and although I will miss music and such I enjoy reading and writing more.

As I explored in my english text, sight is much more valuable to humans (including me).

Re: Ethics and Choice
As you open Room 1 the typical lights flash and alarms ring, but this time the speakers have been set to Mega-Ultra-Super High and your eardrums burst with the force of it; you are now effectively deaf. You will never again hear the brilliant works of John Williams or Ron Grainer, but you will be able to read this so congratulations you can see.

CHOICE 7:
The Humanitarian Decision
ROOM 1:
In Room 1 you have the cure to cancer if you don't open the room by the end of the week the cure will be incinerated and lost forever.
ROOM 2:
In Room 2 you have the 5.35216x10^6 'volunteer' drug trial patients who will die to make this cure possible. If you don't open this room by the end of the week the cure will be created and all these people will die.

Re: Ethics and Choice
This is another easy one...
If I wanted to save the most lives, the cure for cancer is the easy choice. How many lives will it save in the future, compared to 5 million now? And anyway, they're 'volunteers'. They didn't get in there by accident, if you catch my drift, if you get my meaning, if you see what I'm saying. Might help with overpopulation in a localised area for a short time (until science catches up).
So, yeah, incinerate the cure .

Re: Ethics and Choice
Agree with Alex's reasoning, not his conclusion!
Plus, I might be someone who, in the future, gets cancer, but I'm definitely not one of the volunteers!

Re: Ethics and Choice
As you open the door to Room 1 lights flash and alarms ring and you hear the voices of 5.352161x10^6 people, who were forced into a drug trial, half of whom don't even have cancer, scream as they are being tortured to death because the doctor in charge of the drug trial is just really mean and vindictive and doesn't really care about curing cancer. Eventually though he does find the cure for cancer but because of it's 99.99999999999999999999999999999999% fatality rate it is considered more fatal then having cancer and is refused for release. Congrats you've just killed 5.35216x10^6 people for nothing.
