I had to activate them so they could start counting, right now they are nothing. Maybe later I will offer name colors/changes being able to buy your own section... things like that.

I think they're a function of your post count.
Also, is there a way to see where a particular user is (if they're online) and who's looking at a particular thread?

Although it looks a bit sparse at 1920x1080 (on my shiny new 58cm monitor).

Not much to be done about that though - you lose compatibility with smaller monitors. It's just up to me to make use of my space (tiling two full sized browser windows side by side
