if it is agreed that the massclaim involves media as well so be it ...
i just believe that since we likely need the names but not the media (as of yet) why claim if it can easily be deduced from the name?
i suppose on the flip side why not claim if theres nothing to hide ...
i admit i'm basing this on a very small sample of the population of role PMs, but [media] seems to add very little to the game ... it merely clarifies which version of [name] we are, which only required if [name] is not unique

PS I guess there's no reason to be coy; what you did there, Alex, was guessing a role that could possibly be in the game, based on Eggs' recent fiction intake? If this is indeed the mechanic, we should get a hit before long - it might not be protagonists, but you expect main characters.

Well, I think the role names is worth a shot; it's just that we don't have a real one to test, I don't want to reveal my own until Darth or Brendo have the chance to say 'oh, you just have to capitalise every second letter and it'll work', and spamming guesses is unfeasible because Eggs probably doesn't want to do a vote count in between every one.

That's even assuming that FoSes do anything, which is probably about 50/50.

just chucking around ideas, we don't know deadlines ( if they're regular), we're just sorting out simple syntax, and we know minimal information on each other

a little thought ... how are the mechanics hidden? is it just a mod wall? or do players hold the keys to the puzzle?

In past games, a player has had an ability that hides the rules (usually something to do with Chairman/General Mao; 'Mao' being a card game in which the rules are kept secret) . Killing them would remove that ability.

MIND SCREW MEADOW ROLE:

As you can see, they generally don't claim their role, since they have reasons to stay alive (survivor, mafia, SK etc)

Knowing Eggs he's probably put in the role (You win if you get every other player in the game to role claim/ false role claim) some people are being very earnest about it in any case which makes me suspicious so I don't intend to claim.

Eh, possible; or something like it when you can be targeted only if you claim. Then again, I once ran a game in which you were vulnerable if you didn't claim, so ...
I'm actually OK with Darth not claiming role name for now; so long as he does if we have a real reason to later. If such a win con does exist, it's unlikely Darth has it, so without his claim the possible role won't be able to win.
Oh, he meant all role stuff. So long as there's nothing in your role that would be extremely helpful to know, I'm cool with that, too.

Also, I'll point out that name claims weren't necessarily part of my original proposal; that came when we were thinking of ways to successfully vote.

True; that's why in general I'll try to do/propose things that seem like a good idea at any time, not try to outguess Eggs. The massclaim idea does rely on the town being power-heavy, but I think that's a fairly safe assumption to make, and if it's not power-heavy, well, there won't be much to claim, so not a lot of damage can be done.
